Move-Out Checklist

Here is a short list to help you crush the move out and get your deposit back from OKCREAL!

General

• Notify Landlord: Provide written notice of your move-out date as per your lease agreement.

• Keys: Gather all keys (apartment, mailbox, garage, etc.) to return.

• Utilities: Arrange for final meter readings and pay all utility bills.

• Forward Mail: Set up mail forwarding with the post office.

• Photographic Evidence: Take photos of the cleaned apartment for your records.

Living Room

• Dust and Clean: Dust all surfaces, including shelves, light fixtures, and ceiling fans.

• Windows: Clean windows, sills, and tracks.

• Carpets: Vacuum thoroughly; consider professional cleaning if heavily soiled.

• Hard Floors: Sweep and mop hard floors.

• Walls: Remove any nails, hooks, and repair any holes or scuffs. Touch up paint if necessary.

• Baseboards: Wipe down baseboards.

• Doors and Knobs: Clean doors and door handles.

Bedrooms

• Dust and Clean: Dust all surfaces, including shelves, light fixtures, and ceiling fans.

• Windows: Clean windows, sills, and tracks.

• Carpets: Vacuum thoroughly; consider professional cleaning if heavily soiled.

• Hard Floors: Sweep and mop hard floors.

• Appliances:

• Refrigerator: Empty, defrost, and clean thoroughly. Don’t forget the freezer and behind the fridge.

• Oven/Stove: Clean inside the oven, stovetop, and control panel. Pull out stove to clean sides and floor underneath.

• Microwave: Clean inside and out.

• Dishwasher: Clean inside and run an empty cycle with a dishwasher cleaner.

• Sink and Garbage Disposal: Clean and disinfect sink. Run garbage disposal with ice and lemon.

• Cabinets and Drawers: Empty, clean inside and out, including handles.

• Countertops: Clean and disinfect countertops.

• Floors: Sweep and mop floors thoroughly.

Bathroom

• Sink and Countertops: Clean and disinfect.

• Toilet: Clean and disinfect inside and out.

• Bathtub/Shower: Clean and remove any mold/mildew. Clean glass doors if applicable.

• Mirror: Clean mirror.

• Cabinets and Drawers: Empty, clean inside and out.

• Floors: Sweep and mop floors.

• Vent: Clean bathroom vent.

Hallways and Entryway

• Dust and Clean: Dust all surfaces, including light fixtures and baseboards.

• Floors: Sweep and mop or vacuum.

• Closets: Clean inside closets, including shelves and floors. Remove any hangers.

Final Touches

• Trash: Remove all trash and dispose of it properly.

• Lawn/Balcony/Patio: Clean and remove any personal items.

• Inspection: Schedule a walk-through inspection with your landlord if possible.

• Repairs: Address any minor repairs to avoid deductions from your deposit.
